About the project

Plugged In group shotI've been contemplating how people perceive physical objects when given instructions to let go of something that they own. Another project that I still work on is travelling with a Mr. Potato Head toy and taking pictures of it around the world. What if I let others decide the fate of an object? Will they keep it or will they follow the idea that the object should be left for the next recipient?

The idea of this project is to send out nine custom made figurines through various methods around the world and to track their progress through a central information spot, i.e., this web site. A tag is attached that includes a brief set of instructions and a link to a website for more information.

The project ends when I no longer receive any more updates from all of the figurines; either they've been kept by their new owners or have been lost. Keeping the object isn't considered a negative, materialistic action, but shows what value is placed in a physical form. If the object is endearing to its new owner, I'd love to know why they have kept it.
